So, the doctor's appointment. First, some perspective. Joshua has said several times: "No matter what, he will be our son, and we will love him." And it won't even be hard to do.

As far as the results from the there a physical problem with Malachi? We still don't know. Something could be wrong. But probably not. We'll just have to wait and see, and try not to worry in the meantime.

The specialist said things look good for Malachi. He does have one part of his brain that measures out of the ordinary. But every other thing checks out. She took a good look at his heart and his brain and they look healthy. He seems to be very healthy in the way he moves and responds. So unless something changes, she sees no need for concern.

There is a small chance that this one off-measurement could indicate something we can't see yet, but it is unlikely. So unlikely that if he continues to be so healthy for the rest of the pregnancy, the doc wouldn't even discourage me from a homebirth. To me, that seems very significant.

  1. God gives us what we need, which is not always what we think we want. Whether Malachi is "normal" or not will not affect how much you love him. Malachi will be a very fortunate child to have parents like you and Joshua. We love you.

  3. I think it's awesome that you want to do a home birth!! We'll be praying for you guys and little Malachi. And yes, it is in the Lord's hands, and His word tells us that He will not give us more than we can handle.
